Often we come to our lives with a strong sense of expectation, “knowing” how it will play out, this person, this place, this situation. Suzuki Roshi famously said, “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the expert’s there are few.” In this talk we will explore how we return to an attitude of freshness, openness, and intimacy with what is arising in this present moment’s experience.
Our guest speaker in the pulpit will be UUMAN's own Lisa Story.
Lisa Story is one of the Guiding Teachers and co-founders of the Roswell Insight Meditation Community, which meets at UUMAN on Monday evenings. In 2022, she received lay ordination as a Buddhist Minister, or Archarya, in the Embracing Simplicity Contemplative Order at Heartwood Refuge. She has a particular love of the Dharma, but has also been deeply inspired by practices and teachings from many different spiritual paths and lineages. She is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist, and has a small private practice.
