Join us as we get together to socialize and have fun playing some very cool tabletop games! (“tabletop” is used to include board, dice, and card games). You are welcome to bring games and food to share, but you definitely don’t have to.

People usually end up playing 2 or 3 games and staying for 3-4 hours. It’s okay to come late or leave early — I’ve had as much fun watching some games as playing.

What kind of games? I’m so glad you asked! I’m pretty sure we’ve never played a Hasbro or Parker Brothers game, so not Monopoly or Candyland. They’re newer games that are less about pure luck and don’t eliminate players (actually or effectively).

There are the usual competitive games, but we also have cooperative games, where the players are working together against the game (Pandemic or Forbidden Island, for example). Games can be all about what you do on the board or how well you can bluff your opponents, like in The Resistance or Sheriff of Nottingham. There are many different game types and themes. Some games take 15 minutes, some can take 2 or 3 hours (or more, but we don’t play those games quite as much).

One of my favorite introductory games is Ticket to Ride (the first “new” game I taught my kids), and you can see an episode of TableTop where they play the game here: https://youtu.be/qHmf1bau9xQ

I’ve watched most of the episodes of TableTop with my kids. They’re usually pretty entertaining, though they can be off-color — Wil and his friends sometimes have the humor of 12-year-old boys. Between several members of the group, we have most of the games in that show, though we don’t always bring them.

Speaking of which, some of us have our collections published on BoardGameGeek.  Here are the links for the collections of Ryan & MeghanLangstonRosemaryBrian & Robbie, and my family.  If you’re interested in something, let us know and we’ll try to bring it.

Hope to see you there!
